OS X Mavericks | Tutorial & FAQ

You can update your laptop to Mavericks on the App Store, but here's a few tips to have a 'safe install. NOTE: Before you install be sure to BACK UP your storage to prevent possible loss of files.

1. App Store > Updates > Install Mavericks OS
Your laptop will restart to download update.

SIDE NOTE: You should have at least 8 GB of free space for major updates. 15 GB is recommended.
If you find yourself with low storage space:

(top left corner of screen) > About this Mac > More Info... > Storage  (top bar)

This tells you what your storage consists of to let you decide on any unwanted items you want to delete.

2. After installing Mavericks, it is important that you update all your applications to make sure everything is compatible with the new software.
